***NEW PODCAST***
Spectrum Voices Conversation presents "A Seat At The Table (Episode 9): Nathan Bunyan, ABA/PBS -Behaviour Analysis"
If there's a subject I want to know more about in autism, it's behaviourism.
As a late diagnosed autistic, the first exposure I had to the words that make up the acronym ABA were negative.
They were scary and there was an emotional response.
There had to be more to it than the negatives that I was being confronted with. I had to let go of the idea of a black and white situation and explore.
Recorded on Sunday 21st April 2024.
(Podcast runtime - 31 minutes)

Join us for a LIVE Autistic Conversation about our autism.

Misophonia can have a profound impact on individuals, often forcing them to exert more effort than their neurotypical peers in order to navigate certain environments.
What can make a difference? Provision of quiet, tranquil spaces, using ear plugs or defenders, white noise or a similar buffer, or minimising stressors such as group dining. These small adjustments can make a world of difference for those struggling with misophonia.

For far too long, the dominant narrative on Autism has been negative, deficits-based and not respectful of Autistic voices.
As an Autistic-led organisation that mentors more than 3000 Autistic young people each year, we are dedicated to helping them develop a positive Autistic identity and driving a rethink of how society views Autism. We are grateful for mentors like Willow who surround our mentees with mindsets and messages that validate who they are.
[Image description: White background with green circular trim. Blue text reads: "Autism has a lot of words attached to it - deficits, disorder, weaknesses - words we want to challenge! Autism is a difference in thinking and isn't inherently wrong or bad. It would be unrealistic to pretend that being Autistic in a neurotypical world doesn't have its difficulties, but it would be similarly unrealistic to ignore the strengths of autism." Willow (She/her). I CAN Mentor.]
